7 Social Media Influencers Worth Following

You are in control of who you follow online.

Read that again.

We seem to have forgotten this, but it’s as easy as hitting the “unfollow” button.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by your news feed. Yeah, same here. After multiple bouts with depression and anxiety, and signing off and on social media, I came to the sobering realization that social media is not good for my health but that I’m going to be on it either way. So, I’ve made a concerted effort to be more intentional with my time here and I’ve started to strike a healthy balance (you can read more about how I’ve done this, here).

I’d like to use this space I’ve created for myself in this tiny corner of the internet as a support group for anyone else who is looking for ways to create a healthier relationship with their content consumption habits.

LISTEN NOW!

My number one tip for feeling good about the time you spend online is unfollowing people and pages you don’t know, like or vibe with. Period.

They don’t need to be showing up in your newsfeed. You can control and curate the content you’re consuming online simply by becoming more intentional about who you follow.

With that, I want to share a list of some social media influencers that I enjoy following. And when I say “social media influencers”, I’m just referring to anyone with an Instagram account. Because, as I explained in a previous post, you don’t need to be a “social media influencer” to have an influence on social media. And the ladies from this list have a real and positive influence on me and I believe their content is worth consuming.

Below is a list of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow. They fill my newsfeed with uplifting, funny, honest content that I enjoy consuming.

@arrowsandbow for all your simple living, minimalism, happy family, home decor needs

@thebirdspapaya for all that good body positive content with some killer filters and a very photogenic pug

@natjmartin for all things breastfeeding + motherhood with lots of sass and real talk (also, hand-lettering and Disney and awesome custom shirts)

@lettuceturniptheeats for drool-worthy food poronophotography and recipes by a brilliant badass mama who keeps it real real (plus she just launched her own online farmers market NWBulk and its amaze)

@emilyschuman for lots of pretty little things (makeup, jewelry, fashion) and some honest conversations about life and motherhood (you may also know her from her incredibly chic line, Cupcakes and Cashmere)

@leslieannbruce for real BTS of motherhood and reminders that you are a f*cking awesome mom (you should also check out her website, Unpacified, if you’re not like a regular mom…you’re a cool mom. She also has a new book coming out, bc of course she does. You can pre-order here.)

@yoga_girl for…life. She just gives me life. She keeps it so real and fun and honest and current. There’s yoga and babies and animals and vegan food and marriage. She has it all and I love following her. She also has a new book coming out and a Podcast that kicks ass. Plus she just started her own foundation and has a website that offers yoga classes. She doesn’t stop.

If you’re looking to de-clutter your newsfeed and fill it with content you want to consume, I think at least one of these ladies will have something to offer you. Reclaim your time and energy. We’re online anyway, we might as well make the most of our time there. Find people who fill your cup, teach you, make you feel good.

These are just a few of my favorites. If you’re interested in some more recommendations, I have plenty. There are so many people doing great things online. These seven accounts happen to fit my personal brand of happy. They might not resonate as much with you. But the idea is to find and follow content that fits YOUR interests and fills YOUR cup.

Who are you following right now that you think is creating content worth consuming? Share them with me in the comments below! I’d look to check them out.
